Chris Jae Brown

A young person with short braided hair and stubble. Their eyes are closed.

Chris Jae Brown (he/him) is a writer, director and musician based in Essex, with a passion for telling stories that provoke thought. Chris is an alumni of the 2024 BFI Film Academy x National Film and Television School Craft Skills Residential, where he recorded/mixed sound and made a music score for the short film, Firecracker. A fascination for scores and soundscapes eventually led into a love for the wider filmmaking process, subsequently working on a number of student short films, with a drive to put his own works of art into the world.

He was mentored by Matt Smith to make his short film, 6.03, for the Young Film Network South East, which you can watch below!

If you would like to screen Chris’s film, or any of the Short Cut Film Fund films, please email us at [email protected] with the subheading: SCFF Screening.
