Dorothy Allen-Pickard
Dorothy (she/her) is a filmmaker from London who merges documentary, fictional and theatrical techniques. She’s a member of the award-winning theatre company Breach and her films have been awarded Best UK Short at Open City Doc Fest, Special Mention at Oberhausen, Grand Prix at Arts Convergence, Young Director Award, shortlisted for a Grierson, received multiple Vimeo Staff Picks and have screened at festivals including LFF, Clermont Ferrand, Doc NYC, Sheffield Doc Fest and EIFF, and on platforms including POV Shorts, The Guardian, BBC and Vice.
After completing an MA in Directing Fiction at Goldsmiths University, Dorothy received the BFI New Talent Award and was named as one of Broadcast’s Hotshots in 2019. She worked as director’s assistant on the Netflix series Kaos and was selected to take part in Network @LFF in 2022. She is currently a member of Bafta Connect and is developing her debut documentary and narrative features. Her film Weekend Dad was produced by BFI NETWORK and BBC Films.
